BeachHouse Beanery goes Entertainment

bhbigsign

Ok, Ok …, I know that if you don’t consume adult beverage, Flagler Beach night life is null. But I have to tell you this, I have to tell you about a great little spot I found last week in downtown Flagler Beach – The BeanHouse Beanery.

Called the BeanHouse Beanery  for I don’t know what reason.  They do not roast beans there but they do sale them.  I think I heard that the bean were roasted by the Beach Taco guy in St Augustine, but not sure.   The BeanHouse Beanery is located on Central Ave across from City Hall in an old Florida beach house.  The house sits high and there are a few steps to climb but they are easy.

The BeanHouse Beanery  is a small and I mean small coffee cafe with a limited selection of in house food and snacks. But don’t worry or fret… what they do carry is “jump in your mouth good“.  I mean really great chocolate tarts and cakes.

Plus and this is a “double plus good” thing I am talking about here – Coffee is not your only choice of beverage.  They have Smoothie for us aging hippies, and Teas all the way from China. I would love to see more fruit, fresh fruit drinks, but I will give them time.bhbsign

But I just heard and this is the real kicker, I heard that they are going to have Entertainment this Friday Night. OMG, in Flagler Beach and not at a bar.  This is really great news for us non-drinkers.

They are introducing  – A Mountain of Sorts
A “chill indie-acoustic set”, featuring Robyn Hunter’s fine guitar and vocals.  A Flagler girl with a very nice sound.  Please come and welcome her, and enjoy a very pleasant evening!
Starting at 6, ending at 9—or whenever everyone leaves, or when she gets “all sung out”!

Wow… I would strongly suggest if you are in the area to stop by.  Forget weather the band is great or not.  Just stop by to support this effort to bring something different to Flagler Beach.  Plus I guarantee you will like the folks that run The BeanHouse Beanery.

DO it.

Food Lion’s last roar – 30% OFF

Food lion on SR100 is closing before Publix opens.  Today the have a sign posted in the window stating that everything is 30% off.  Hate to see them go, but with CVS and Publics opening so close it s understandable.

Is Oceanside still Oceanside?

Re/Max Oceanside, the pro’s at charging high commission to market your home have moved from the two ocean side locations to a massive new building inland on SR-100.  So, can they still be Re/Max Oceanside?  I mean really, Rusie why the move?

This is the same group of people that developed the Polo Club on Jon Anderson.  So I guess it really does not matter if a name is accurate or not.  After all, is there a polo club in Flagler Beach?  This is more on the same mentality that believes image over substance.  How did they get away with a sign that was a violation on city ordinance?   What is it about this city and signs.

Saboe’s is one of the guys that can smile in you face while he picks your pocket.  Develop he will and believe me he care more about the money than the land.  Money is what moves this guy.  In my opinion here is how he works:

He bills his agent for toilet paper and anything else, then take a good chunk of the commission if you sale a house until your account is paid up.  Much like the way migrant farmers are sold tobacco and liquor to keep them owing the company boss, Rusie keeps his agents paying for the improvement on his real property.  In my opinion of course, I am sure he is a good man.

But is Oceanside really ocean side any more?

Anyhoot, I am glad they have moved.  In fact I wish all real estate office where on the inland side of Flagler Beach.

Pier Closed Indefinitely

Pier Closed Indefinitely By City

Wow… this is a shocker.  So, the city’s regular inspection failed to prevent a major disruption to fishing on the Flagler Beach Pier.  OMG – someone could have really been hurt!

Last known repairs to Pier? 2005
Pier being repaired in 2005

City officials failed to protect pier and public from normal weathering and until recently missing pilings and cross beams were not noticed.  The 806 ft pier is closed indefinitely.

Where have the city commissioner been?  Taking trips, celebrating recent victories.  In my opinion this is gross negligence and incompetence on the part of the City of Flagler Beach.  Who is supposed to keep the pier open?  Who is elected to see that the city runs uninterrupted?  And how does this happen?

Keep in mind, we pay our taxes, we support our businesses, we do what is right.  Where are our elected officials, our inspectors?  How often do you see City employees sitting at the pier smoking and not paying attention to the needs of the people.  It is our pier that is closed and it is going to cost us to repair the deferred maintenance and neglect that our pier has been given.
